RIMC, RMS & Sainik Schools are English medium residential Public Schools run by the Ministry of Defence to impart quality education to the wards of defence personnel and civilians from Classes VI to XII. These Schools were founded with a dream by the Govt of India as old Public Schools in India since 1925. Cadets are admitted into Class VI & or IX through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted under the aegis of the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army).
Why RIMC/ SS/ RMS?
The aim of these Schools is "to impart quality education and prepare the cadets to join the Defence Services". These Schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The medium of instruction in the Schools is English. The academic year is from April to March. Only RIMC session is divided into two terms. All Schools offer Science stream. Thses schools aim to prepare candidates for the following examinations:-
(a) Central Board of Secondary Education
(i) All India Secondary School Examination (Class X).
(ii) All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII)
(b) Union Public Service Commission Examination for admission to National Defence Academy.

Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) offers admission in the 8th standard to the boy & Girl candidates. Admission will be granted for the two sessions. To get admission in the RIMC, candidates have to qualify the written examination and interview. Those candidates who will qualify the written examination will undergo the interview process.
Approximately 25 cadets are admitted every six months. Candidates should not be less than 11½ years of age or must not have attained the age of 13 on 01 (Jan) or 01 (July) of the Term they join in. Admissions are made to Class VIII only. The candidate must be studying in Class VII or have passed Class VII from a recognised school at the time of joining. Application forms are to be submitted to the respective State Governments. Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in an All India Entrance Examination held twice a year comprising a written examination of question papers in English (125 Marks), Mathematics (200 Marks) and General Knowledge (75 Marks), Successful candidates are called for Viva-Voce test (50 marks).
The Admission to the College is bi-annual i.e., in January and July each year. Candidates (Boys only) should not be less than 11½ years of age but must not have attained the age of 13 on 01 January or 01 July of the Term they join in.
Admissions are made to Class I (equivalent to Class VIII) only. The candidates should be studying minimum in Class VII in a recognized school at the time of Admission to the RIMC. They should also be medically fit for entry to the College, in accordance with the medical standards prescribed.
Written Examination Written Examination The written part of the examination consists of three subjects i.e. English (125 Marks), Mathematics (200 Marks), and General Knowledge (75 Marks). Maths and General knowledge papers may be answered either in Hindi or in English. To qualify, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 % marks in each subject.
Viva Voce Viva Voce The oral examination consists of a Viva Voce test of 50 marks, which is designed to assess a candidate's intelligence, personality and confidence. The minimum passing marks will be 50%.
Medical Examination Medical Examination All the candidates, qualified after interview, will undergo a medical examination at selected Military Hospital and only those candidates found medically fit, will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. Medical Examination of the candidates forms only a part of the system of selection and does not guarantee the final selection.

DownloadRashtriya Military Schools(RMS) are category 'A' schools and where established in 1952 on public lines and admissions were made open to the sons of defense service officers and civilians. In 1954 the school became a member of the Indian public school conference(IPSC) and continues to be active members to date.
RMS takes admission in class 6th and 9th among its five branches (Chail, Bangalore, Dholpur, Belgaum, Ajmer) through all India common entrance test.
Education Qualification: For admission to Class VI, the candidates should have passed Class V or be studying in Class V and pass it before the date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School. For admission in Class IX, the candidate should have passed Class VIII from a government/ recognized school before the date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School. However, candidates studying in Class V and Class VIII are eligible to appear in the respective Entrance Test. They should also preferably know sufficient English which is the medium of instruction in Rashtriya Military Schools.
Age: Boys & Girls aged between 10-12 years as on 31 March 2023 (born between 01 April 2011 to 31 March 2013, both days inclusive) for admission in Class VI and Boys(only) aged between 13-15 years as on 31 March 2023 (born between 01 April 2008 to 31 March 2010, both days inclusive) for admission in Class IX. Six months relaxation in upper age limit is permissible for wards of personnel Killed in Action. The Authority for Date of Birth will be a School Leaving Certificate obtained from the previous school of the candidate and countersigned by the District Education Officer. Certificates issued by Gram Panchayat or any other local body are not acceptable. Any variation in the Date of Birth or any other particulars in the sheet role and the School Leaving Certificate will render the candidature of the child null and void.
Reservation
The schools have reservation of seats in categories mentioned below:-
(a) 70% of seats are reserved for the wards of serving and retired JCOs/OR those in the Army, Navy and Air Force.
(b) 30% of seats are reserved for the wards of Officers & Civilians.
(c)27%,15% and 7.5% of these at category (excluding Officer Category) are reserved for OBC, Non-creamy layer, SC and ST candidates respectively.
(d) A total of 50 seats (Not more than 15 in either of the school) are earmarked for wards of personal killed in action.
(e) 10% seats or 30 vacancies maximum (put together in all 05 RMSs) will be reserved for Girl candidates.
Written Examination
Class VI -
(a) English - (Candidate is required to qualify in this test. English Marks are not counted
towards Merit) MM - 50 , Minimum Marks to Qualify - 35%
(b) Intelligence Test - MM - 50, Minimum Marks to qualify - 40%
(c) Mathematics - MM - 50, Minimum Marks to qualify - 40%
(d) General Knowledge & Current Affairs - MM - 50, Minimum Marks to qualify - 40%
(e) Interview - 20
Interview: Consists of a Viva Voce test of 20 marks, which is designed to assess a candidate's intelligence, personality and confidence. The minimum passing marks will be 50%.
Final Selection : Candidates selected in order of merit on the basis of total marks secured by them in the admission test and the interview will be admitted to different Rashtriya Military Schools based on availability of vacancies, medical fitness and as per the
reservations norms laid down for various categories. Qualified candidates will be allotted school purely on the basis of Merit and vacancy available in school.
Medical Fitness : All the candidates will be required to undergo medical fitness examination before admission to the Rashtriya Military Schools as per norms/criteria as specified in AFMSF-2 and only in the hospital he has mentioned in the Application Form. The medical examination will be carried out at only one of the listed hospitals mentioned under the head "LIST OF HOSPITALS FOR CONDUCT OF MEDICAL TEST". Candidate found medically unfit by the board of officers at listed hospitals will not be admitted. The candidate will also be required to remain medically fit during the course of his/her stay at Rashtriya Military School. The admission of the candidate will be provisional till Fitness certificate is received from the Hospital. NO CHANGE IN MEDICAL EXAM CENTRE WILL BE ALLOWED.

Sainik Schools Society (SSS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India. The Society runs Sainik Schools. Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to CBSE. Sainik Schools prepare Cadets to join the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala and other Training Academies for officers. At present there are a total of 33 Sainik Schools across the country.
All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam named as AISSEE in Short which conducted all over India to provide admission in Sainik Schools. Aspirants can take the admission in Class 6 and Class 9 after qualify the AISSEE Entrance Exam
candidate should be between 10 and 12 years as on date of joining or 31 March of next year for admission to Class VI, for example - he/she should have been born between 01 April 2011 and 31 March 2013 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2023-24.
Admission for Girls is open for Class VI. Age criteria is same as boys.
A candidate should be between 13 and 15 years as on date of joining or 31 March of next year, for admission to Class IX, for example - he should have been born between 01 April 2008 and 31 March 2010 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2023-23.
Admission to Class IX is not open for girls.
He/ she should have passed Class VIII exam from a recognized school at the time of admission.
