SSC CGL Exam Pattern consists of three phases- Preliminary Test, Mains, and Computer Proficiency Test/Skill Test. The other classification of jobs under the SSC CGL examination is based on the job profile. Under this classification, there are two types of jobs-

Essential Qualifications for various posts
SSC CGL recruitment process includes several essential qualifications that a candidate must possess. For different posts, a different set of qualifications are needed.
Qualifications :
Assistant Audit Officer
Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Institute
- Chartered Accountant
- Cost and Management Accountant
- Company Secretary
- Master’s in Commerce
- Master’s in Business Studies
- Master’s in Business Administration
- Master’s in Business Economics
Statistical Investigator Grade-ll
- Bachelor's Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% in Mathematics at 12th standard level, or
- Bachelor's Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Compiler
- Bachelor's Degree from any recognized University with Economics, or
- Statistics or Mathematics as compulsory or Elective subject.
All other posts
Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
SSC- CGL Recruitment Process
SSC CGL Exam Pattern includes three phases and a candidate needs to successfully pass all the tiers to get the final selection.
SSC- CGL Exam
The Examination is conducted in three tiers as indicated below-
Tier- l
4 (Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, General Awareness, and Reasoning).
75 minutes
100 (25 questions in each section)
200 (+2 marks/ correct answer and -0.50 marks/incorrect answer)
Tier-ll
4 papers:
- Quantitative Abilities
- English Language and comprehension
- General Studies (Finance and Economics)
- Statistics
2 hours each paper with 100 marks per paper. English carries 200 questions
Each paper is of 200 marks
Tier-lll
1 (Essay writing/application writing)
1 hour, 100 marks
Tier-iv
DEST/CPT Test
15 minutes
DEST- 8000 key depressions per hour)
CPT- Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and Generation of Slides
Qualifying in nature
Note:
- Tier-I and Tier-II: Computer-Based Tests
- For Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Paper- I, Paper-II and Paper- III are considered for selection.
- Assistant Audit Officer Group- B: Paper- I, Paper-II and Paper- IV are considered for selection.
- For Other Posts: Only paper-I and Paper-II are considered for selection.
- Tier-III: Instead of INTERVIEW, Tier-III (of 100 marks) has been inducted which will require candidates to write Essay/Precis/Letter /Application in either English or Hindi.
- There will be no sectional cut-offs but a candidate will have to qualify all the three phases i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III.

Bank Probationary Officer (Bank PO): This is a managerial position in a bank. After the essential 1 to 2-year training, candidates are designated as Assistant Managers (AM) or Deputy Managers (DM).
Bank Clerks: As the name suggests, this is a clerical position in the bank and this can be considered as entry level job in a bank.
Specialist Officers (SO): Banks also hire candidates for specialist profiles like – IT Officer, HR Officer, Marketing Officer, Finance Officer, Law Officer, Agriculture Officer etc. Usually, the grade and the starting salary of Specialist Officer is in the same range as Probationary Officers.

About Bank Exams
Every year, multiple exams are conducted for the recruitment of Bank PO, Bank Clerk & Specialist Officers. Broadly, these exams can be classified into following Categories-
IBPS PO: It is a common exam conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for PSU Banks for the recruitment of Probationary Officers. IBPS Clerk: It is a common exam conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for PSU Banks for the recruitment of Clerical Cadres.
IBPS Specialist Officers (IBPS SO): It is a common exam conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for PSU Banks for the recruitment of Specialist Officers like Marketing Officer, IT Officer, HR Officer etc.
IBPS Regional Rural Bank Exam: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts a common written exam for all the Regional Rural Banks of India (RRBs) for the posts of Probationary Officer, Clerical and Specialist Officers.
SBI Probationary Officer: State Bank of India conducts its own exam for recruitment of Probationary Officers.
SBI Clerk: State Bank of India conducts its own exam for recruitment of Clerical Cadres.
RBI Grade B Exam: Reserve Bank of India recruit officers (Grade B) through an All India exam. Through, there are very few jobs in this, but working with RBI has its own benefits and future prospects.
RBI Assistants Exam: RBI recruits Clerical Cadres through an All India exam. Again, a job in RBI is considered very prestigious.
Bank Exams Pattern
Recruitment in government banks is generally done in three stage recruitment process. First two phases are written test, which are called Pre and Main; and last stage is the interview process. Shortlisting of candidates is done at each stage – Pre, Main and Interview.
Final merit list is prepared on the basis of marks in Mains and Interview (weightage: 80% Written Test & 20% Interview).
Bank Exams Syllabus
In Prelims, 100 questions are asked from three different sections – Quantitative Aptitude (35 Questions), Reasoning Ability (35 Questions), English Language (30). While in the Mains exams, 200 questions are asked covering Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, English Language, General Awareness and Basic Computer Knowledge.

English Language :
Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Error Spotting, Sentence Correction, Para Jumbles, Vocabulary, Multiple Meaning Words, Paragraph Completion and New Pattern Questions of various types.
Computers :
